Cookie Policy

Effective date: 2026-05-24

Last updated: 2026-05-24 Version: 1.0 (the consent system itself uses an internal version number that we bump when categories change — see section 10)

1. What this Policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how StakExpress uses cookies and similar technologies on https://stakexpress.com. It is part of, and should be read with, our Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies?

A “cookie” is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies allow the site to remember your preferences, recognise your device on later visits, and measure how the site is being used. “Similar technologies” — including local storage, session storage, and pixels — work in comparable ways and are also covered by this Policy.

3. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories — a structure widely used by privacy regulators and consent-management vendors.

a. Strictly necessary

Required for the Service to function. You cannot opt out of these — without them, the site cannot recognise that you have already made a consent choice, keep you signed in, or load.

b. Analytics

Helps us understand how visitors find and use the site (which pages are popular, how long users stay, where errors occur). We use Google Analytics 4 via Google Site Kit. Analytics cookies load only if you consent.

c. Marketing

Used by us and our advertising partners (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok) to measure ad performance and, where applicable, show you StakExpress content as you browse other sites. Marketing cookies load only if you consent.

d. Functional

Remembers interface preferences such as your selected dashboard layout or default odds format. Functional cookies load only if you consent.

4. The cookies we currently set

The table below is generated by our consent system from its configured cookie inventory and rendered on this page at load time. When we add or remove a tracking technology we update the inventory, and the change is reflected here automatically.

We update the underlying inventory whenever we add or remove a tracking technology.

5. How we obtain and record your consent

The first time you visit StakExpress, our consent banner appears with three options at equal prominence:

  • Accept all — load all categories;
  • Reject all — load only strictly necessary cookies;
  • Customize — choose categories individually.

Before you make a choice, all non-essential cookies are blocked. We use Google’s Consent Mode v2 to communicate your choice to embedded scripts. Your choice is stored in the sx_consent cookie for one year.

We log each consent event (granted, rejected, customised, or withdrawn) to an audit table on our server. The log contains a hashed (not raw) IP address using a daily-rotated salt, your User-Agent, the regulatory regime applicable to your country, whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, the state you chose, and the timestamp. Logs are retained for 365 days by default.

6. Changing your choice

You can change your cookie choice at any time:

  • Cookie Preferences link in our footer — re-opens the banner;
  • Cookie Policy link in our footer — links to this page;
  • Browser settings — you can delete cookies directly in your browser. Doing so will reset your StakExpress consent and the banner will reappear on your next visit.

7. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends the Sec-GPC signal (a privacy preference exposed by Firefox, Brave, and other browsers), we treat that signal as an automatic opt-out of marketing cookies. The consent banner still appears so that you can grant analytics or functional cookies if you wish — those categories are not auto-denied by GPC.

We log GPC-driven decisions in the same audit table as banner-driven decisions, with a separate “gpc_auto” action label.

8. Worldwide Data Opt-Out Options

No matter where you are in the world, you can opt out of marketing cookies at any time. StakExpress does not sell personal information.

Use the link below to open the consent banner with marketing pre-set to off, or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser to opt out automatically.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

9. How our consent system is designed

Our consent system is designed around the principles that are common to most modern privacy laws:

  • Opt-in default-denied for any non-essential cookie;
  • Granular categories (analytics, marketing, functional) so you can pick what you accept;
  • Equal prominence between Accept All and Reject All;
  • Withdrawal at any time through a persistent Cookie Preferences link;
  • Honoring of the Global Privacy Control browser signal, which we treat as an automatic opt-out of marketing cookies;
  • A worldwide opt-out (see section 8 above) so any visitor, regardless of location, can stop marketing cookies at any time.

We do not claim full compliance with every privacy law in every jurisdiction. We aim to operate at or above the standard most readers’ local laws would require. If you believe a specific requirement from your jurisdiction has not been met, please contact [email protected] and we will look into it.

10. Versioning and re-consent

If we change the categories of cookies we use, the legal basis for using them, or the third parties we share data with, we may bump the consent-policy version. Visitors who consented under a previous version will see the banner again so they can confirm their preferences against the new version. The current policy version is shown in the banner footer.
